The Italian Canoe and Kayak Federation has been invited - in order to share the first year activity of D.E.C.K project - to the Erasmus Sport+ Infoday 2024 organised by The European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) on January 30, 2024. Over 500 participants attended the event in Brussels and more than 2000 were connected by streaming.

The day was opened with a welcome address given by the new European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova, and the representative of the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council Pierre-Yves Jeholet.

Several sessions were held in a plenary form; starting with the introduction to the Erasmus+ Sport Programme and moving into more technical sessions.

Anna Merlini took was in agenda as speaker in the second session focused on the Erasmus+ Sport Policy priorities, chaired by Florencia Van Houdt, Head of Sport Unit at DG EAC of the European Commission representing the Italian Canoe and Kayak Federation and all DECK partners.

During the session Milena de Murga from the Union of Sport Federations of Catalunya, Carlotta Giussani from the European Olympic Committee EU Office, Vassos Koutsidoundas from Cyprus Sports Organisation and Anna shared their views, experiences and impacts on the EU policy priorities related to sport and its implementation in their organisations.

It has been a great opportunity for DECK team to share with the European community the first results and speaking about environmental sustainability in sport.
